The practice was founded in Bognor Regis in 1919 by Henry Chamberlain who was joined later by Reginald Martin. After World War II, Donald Spurgeon entered the practice. Mr Spurgeon retired in March 1991, having been a Consultant for a number of years. The Firm changed its name from Chamberlain Martin & Spurgeon to Chamberlain Martin Solicitors with effect from 1st May 2000.

In April 1999 the firm Robert Dunn & Co was incorporated within the practice and Robert Dunn joined as a partner. The Firm’s Littlehampton Branch Office opened in 1979.

The current partners are Keith Campbell (Senior Partner), Paul Bodkin, Robert Dunn (Managing Partner) and Charlotte Vassall. Christopher Martin and Susan Crockford, formerly Partners, are now Consultant Solicitors.

08/05/2009 - Properties up to £175,000. Stamp Duty Land Tax will not apply to residential properties costing £175,000 or less until 31st December 2009! After this date it will revert back to 1% on the full price for properties sold for more than £125,000 but not more than £250,000.
